Disclaimer

This article is a simplified summary for informational purposes. The official "Bando per l'assegnazione dei benefici del diritto allo studio — Anno Accademico 2026/2027," emanated by the University of Milano-Bicocca with Decreto del Rettore n. 2173/2026 prot. 194066/2026 del 02/07/2026, and published on www.unimib.it, is the only legally binding source. Always verify dates and requirements there before making decisions.

What Is the Milano-Bicocca DSU Scholarship 2026/2027?

The Milano-Bicocca DSU scholarship 2026/2027 — officially the "Bando per l'assegnazione dei benefici del diritto allo studio" — is the main financial aid package for students enrolled at the Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca. It covers four separate benefits: the Borsa di Studio (cash grant), the Sovvenzione Straordinaria (emergency subsidy), the Servizio Abitativo (subsidised university housing), and the Servizio Ristorazione (meal service).

The bando is emanated under Decreto del Rettore n. 2173/2026, prot. 194066/2026 del 02/07/2026, and is co-financed by Regione Lombardia and the Ministero dell'Università e della Ricerca (MUR). One detail is particularly important for prospective medical students: the bando is explicitly open — from day one — to students who, for A.A. 2026/2027, enrol in Milano-Bicocca's semestre filtro for the cycle-unico programmes in Medicine and Surgery and Dentistry and Prosthodontics (per D.M. n. 418, D.M. n. 431, and D.M. n. 447 of 2025).

A "fuori sede" first-fascia student can receive up to €8,248 in cash per year (€8,606.40 for female STEM students) — plus the value of free daily meals and full exemption from university tuition.

For 2026/2027, the Milano-Bicocca DSU benefits package includes:

  • A cash scholarship ("Borsa di Studio") based on income, merit, and housing status
  • Total or partial exemption from university tuition (regional study tax and stamp duty always remain due)
  • Free daily meals ("ristorazione gratuita") for beneficiaries at any year, and idonei non beneficiari beyond the first year
  • Subsidised university housing ("posto alloggio") at €256/month, deducted directly from the borsa for winners
  • A graduation premium ("premio di laurea") worth half of your final-year scholarship, for students who graduate in corso
  • Integrations for disability (up to +40%) and international mobility (€600/month, up to 10 months)
  • A Sovvenzione Straordinaria (up to €3,000, or €5,000 in exceptional cases) for sudden hardship — job loss, illness, bereavement, parenthood, or psychotherapy support
  • A +20% increase for students simultaneously and legitimately enrolled in two degree courses

Medicine & Dentistry: Semestre Filtro Students

The bando is explicitly open to all students who, for A.A. 2026/2027, enrol in the semestre filtro of Milano-Bicocca for the cycle-unico programmes in Medicine and Surgery and Dentistry and Prosthodontics. A separate "graduatoria borsa del secondo semestre" is calculated for these students, using the same criteria as the general ranking. A further avviso on unimib.it will subsequently reopen application terms exclusively for students who completed the semestre filtro at a different Ateneo and choose to immatricolarsi at Bicocca in the second semester — these students must, in any case, hold a 2026 university ISEE to request DSU benefits.

Milano-Bicocca Scholarship 2026/2027 Amounts: How Much Can You Get?

emoji_events Premio di Laurea (Graduation Bonus)

Scholarship winners in A.A. 2026/2027 for their last year of course who graduate in corso, within the last laurea session of the same academic year (March or April 2028 for Area Medica degrees), receive a graduation bonus equal to half of the scholarship obtained in their last year of course, net of the ristorazione gratuita deduction. It is assigned automatically by the University, financing permitting from Regione Lombardia — no separate request is needed. No minimum graduation grade is required. Payment is due by 31 July 2028.

In Sede, Pendolare, or Fuori Sede?

Your housing classification is one of the biggest levers on your final scholarship amount — the gap between "in sede" and "fuori sede" reaches roughly €4,800 per year at the base rate. Getting the documentation right, and on time, is critical.

🏠

In Sede

Residents in the Comune of the course site or surrounding areas (per art. 4, c. 8 DPCM 9 April 2001) with a daily public-transport commute of up to 60 minutes.

€2,143 – €3,589

🚆

Pendolari

Residents in Comuni with a public-transport commute of between 60 and 90 minutes to the course site.

€3,299 – €5,029

🏙️

Fuori Sede ⭐

Residents with a commute over 90 minutes who take onerous accommodation near the course site for at least 10 full months (or 5 months for 1st-year-fuori-corso students).

€5,857 – €8,606

info Documentation Matters — the Rental Contract

To be recognized as fuori sede, the rental contract must be regularly registered, intestato to the student or a family member, and covering an accommodation at least 30 minutes from the family residence — reducing the commute to the course site by at least 30 minutes compared to travelling from the family home. It must be uploaded on Sportello online by 16 November 2026. If not uploaded, the student is automatically considered "pendolare."

Laureandi and extra-EU students without a study visa yet have a later deadline — 31 March 2027 — with the scholarship recalculated proportionally to the actual months of onerous accommodation.

Studenti indipendenti — those who satisfy all the independence requirements in the university's Guida ISEE, regardless of geographic origin — follow the same fuori sede rules and amounts, provided they too pay for onerous accommodation.

ISEE Requirements for Milano-Bicocca 2026/2027

To be considered in possession of the economic requirement, your ISEE 2026 must not exceed €26,887.93, and your ISPE (patrimonial indicator, ISP divided by the equivalence scale) must not exceed €58,452.06. Both limits must be respected jointly — exceeding either one alone makes you ineligible for any DSU benefit.

IndicatorMaximum Value 2026/2027
ISEE (Indicatore Situazione Economica Equivalente)€26,887.93
ISPE (ISP / scala di equivalenza)€58,452.06

For first-year students and PhD/specialization students at all years, ranking uses a simple points formula: Punteggio = (1 − ISEE studente / 26.887,93) × 1.000, up to a maximum of 1,000 points, ranked in descending order. Ties are broken first by the grade of the previous qualification, then by younger age.

tips_and_updates How to Get Your ISEE

Students whose family is resident in Italy request the ISEE attestation at a CAF or another authorized body, or online via INPS. Students whose family is resident abroad must follow the "Guida ISEE" published on the University's website. Students enrolling at Bicocca for the second semester after completing the semestre filtro at a different Ateneo must necessarily hold a 2026 university ISEE, requested by 31 December 2026.

Academic Credit (CFU) Requirements

First-Year Students

Matricole face two separate requirements: a "requisito di accesso" to obtain the benefit, and a "requisito ex-post" to keep it. The access requirement is a secondary-school diploma grade of at least 70/100 (66/100 for students with disability ≥66% invalidity or under L.104/92 art. 3), with foreign diplomas converted via the MUR's official formula. No minimum diploma grade applies for immatricolati to laurea magistrale courses.

Standard: 35 CFU

Laurea / ciclo unico, by 10 August 2027

→ Keeps the total (100%) scholarship

20 / 23 CFU

Laurea magistrale, free / programmed access

→ Reduced standard threshold for magistrale courses

Parziale by 30 Nov 2027

Reduced threshold from the Tabellario di Merito

→ Downgrades to 50% beneficiario parziale

Note: the exact CFU thresholds shown above (35 for laurea/ciclo unico; 20 or 23 for magistrale) are the "standard" figures used only when the relevant course allows 60+ CFU/year. For courses with a lower maximum, a proportional criterion applies with rounding down, minus 2 CFU per annual (non-semestral) course. Always verify your exact requirement in the separately published Tabellario di Merito on unimib.it — the bando explicitly warns that the standard figures in its own tables may not apply to your specific course.

Upper-Year Students

Students beyond the first year must have already earned, by 10 August 2026 (not ex-post), a minimum number of CFU set by the Tabellario di Merito. As a reference (courses allowing 60+ CFU/year), free-access laurea requires 35 CFU for year 2 and 80 for year 3 onward; ciclo unico requires 35/80/135/190/245 for years 2–6; laurea magistrale requires 30 CFU for year 2 onward. Programmed-access courses require slightly higher thresholds (e.g. 35/88 for laurea, 34/88 for magistrale).

Ranking for upper-year students combines two components out of 1,000 total points: 600 points based on CFU acquired by 10 August 2026, and 400 points based on weighted average grade ("media ponderata") for those same CFU (30 e lode counts as 30). A limited "bonus" credit system — up to 5 CFU at first use for year 2, 12 for year 3, 15 for year 4 onward — can bridge small shortfalls, but bonus credits are never registered on your libretto and don't count toward your degree.

Milano-Bicocca Housing & Ristorazione (Meal Service)

Housing at Milano-Bicocca is priced at the agevolata tariff and, for scholarship beneficiaries, deducted directly from the borsa itself — it is not an additional cost stacked on top of your grant.

apartment Semestre Filtro Housing

Housing terms and rules for semestre filtro students in Medicine and Dentistry follow the same bando timeline. Entry to residence is set for 1 October 2026 regardless, since the Ateneo cannot assign new-admission posti alloggio for September. A later avviso will reopen housing terms for students who did the semestre filtro elsewhere and immatricolate at Bicocca in the second semester — subject to available residual bed spots.

Conservation of ristorazione gratuita after graduation: a student in the last regular year of any level of study keeps free meals until 31 December after graduating, provided they continue without interruption to the next level of study at Milano-Bicocca; a student in the 1° fuori corso year keeps free meals until 30 June after graduating, under the same continuation condition.

Milano-Bicocca Scholarship 2026/2027: Payment Schedule

Once your application is approved and you appear in the graduatoria definitiva, your scholarship is paid via accredito on your Carta d'Ateneo (or an alternative IBAN, if the badge is inactive — this must be indicated on Sportello online before the ranking is published).

First-Year Students (Matricole)

  • First installment (100%)by 31 Dec 2026
  • Second installment (matricole)by 30 Nov 2027

Payable only after ascertaining the minimum merito requirement is met (per point 3.2.2).

Upper-Year Students

  • First rata (50%)by 31 Dec 2026
  • Second rata (50%)by 30 Jun 2027

Subject to actual fund disbursement ("compatibilmente con l'effettiva erogazione dei fondi").

Semestre filtro students only receive their first installment after confirming they will continue at Bicocca in the second semester and the specific graduatoria definitiva del secondo semestre is published; exact payment timing will be announced separately.

Semestre Filtro & International Students

Milano-Bicocca's bando gives explicit, unusual attention to the semestre filtro pathway for the English-taught Medicine and Dentistry programmes — a detail that matters directly for IMAT applicants weighing university choices.

tips_and_updates Start the Document Process Early

Gathering a foreign ISEE, translating and legalizing documents, and obtaining a codice fiscale can all take weeks — and none of this can be skipped for the semestre filtro pathway just because you're not yet formally immatricolato. Start well before the 30 September 2026 scholarship deadline.

7 Mistakes That Can Cost You the Milano-Bicocca Scholarship

1
Missing the 30 September 2026 Borsa di Studio deadlineDescribed as improrogabile — no extensions apply because the process is fully telematic.
2
Applying for housing after 20 August 2026Housing has an earlier, separate deadline than the scholarship — easy to miss if you assume one date covers everything.
3
Not uploading the rental contract by 16 November 2026Miss it and you are automatically classified as "pendolare" instead of "fuori sede" — losing thousands of euros in scholarship value.
4
Assuming the standard CFU thresholds apply to your courseThe bando explicitly warns that its own reference tables may not match your specific course — always check the separately published Tabellario di Merito.
5
Forgetting to declare double enrollmentStudents legitimately enrolled in two courses must complete the "Dichiarazione doppia iscrizione" section between 1 October 2026 and 31 March 2027 to receive the +20% increase.
6
Not confirming enrollment continuity after graduationFree meal service and other benefits only continue past graduation if you enrol, senza soluzione di continuità, in the next level of study at Bicocca.
7
Making non-veritiere (false) declarationsTriggers a sanction under art. 10, comma 3, D.Lgs. 68/2012 (up to 3× the amount received), possibly compounded with the sanction under art. 38, comma 3, D.L. 78/2010 (€500–€5,000), loss of eligibility for future erogazioni, and referral to the judicial authority.

Milano-Bicocca DSU Scholarship 2026/2027 — FAQ

Do I need to be enrolled before applying? expand_more

No. You do not need to be already enrolled for A.A. 2026/2027 to submit your application, but your enrollment must be finalized (perfezionata) by the date the graduatoria definitiva is published.

Can semestre filtro students apply on the same terms as everyone else? expand_more

Yes. All the deadlines in this bando apply equally to students enrolling in the semestre filtro of Milano-Bicocca for Medicine and Surgery and Dentistry and Prosthodontics. A dedicated "graduatoria borsa del secondo semestre" is calculated with the same criteria as the general ranking, and a later avviso will reopen terms for students who completed their semestre filtro elsewhere and then choose Bicocca for the second semester — provided they hold a 2026 university ISEE.

Is the Borsa di Studio compatible with other scholarships? expand_more

No — the Borsa di Studio is incompatible and non-cumulable with analogous financial aid from other public or private bodies, with borse di studio under art. 12 of DPCM 9 April 2001, and with borse di studio for foreigners issued by the Ministero degli Affari Esteri. It is, however, compatible with contributions for study abroad and with borse di studio for percorsi di eccellenza issued by the Ateneo itself. Where both a DSU and another benefit apply, students must choose within 30 days of the second award, or risk decadenza.

What if I don't meet the CFU requirement as a first-year student? expand_more

First-year students must reach the full CFU requirement (per your course's Tabellario di Merito) by 10 August 2027 to keep the total scholarship. Reaching only the reduced parziale threshold by 30 November 2027 downgrades you to a 50% beneficiario parziale and requires repaying the excess amount received, 50% of the ristorazione value used, and 50% of the housing tariff. Failing to reach even the parziale threshold by 30 November 2027 results in total decadenza — full repayment of the scholarship, ristorazione, and housing benefits received.

What is the Sovvenzione Straordinaria, and who can apply? expand_more

The Sovvenzione Straordinaria is a one-off emergency grant of up to €3,000 (up to €5,000 in documented cases of exceptional gravity that also caused loss of the borsa di studio), available once per academic year and once per lifetime event. It covers sudden family income loss, serious illness or accidents, bereavement, pregnancy/parenthood-related financial fragility, and psychotherapy support. Applications run 7 July 2026 – 30 April 2027, with supporting documentation required for the specific event claimed.

How is "prima immatricolazione assoluta" calculated? expand_more

It is the academic year of your very first enrollment ever in any degree course of the same admission title and same level of study, at any Italian or foreign University — regardless of the outcome (rinuncia, passaggio, laurea) and regardless of how many years have passed. This determines both your merit requirement (CFU needed per year passed) and, for years of course you repeated, your ineligibility for the scholarship in those specific years. Deroghe exist for students with rinuncia/decadenza in a prior career, and for students with a foreign secondary-school cycle shorter than 12 years.
