What Is the EDiSU Pavia Scholarship 2026/2027?
The EDiSU Pavia scholarship 2026/2027 — officially the "Bando di Concorso per il Conferimento di Borse di Studio," approved with delibera del CdA n. 58 del 1 July 2026 — is the main financial aid package for students enrolled at the Università degli Studi di Pavia. EDiSU (Ente per il Diritto allo Studio Universitario) administers the scholarship on behalf of the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) and Regione Lombardia, in application of D.Lgs. n. 68/2012 and the Lombardy-MUR protocol of 19 July 2010.
For international students — including those admitted to Medicine and Surgery or Odontoiatria e Protesi Dentaria through the "semestre filtro" — this scholarship can cover a significant share of annual living costs in Pavia. The package combines cash, a free daily meal, subsidised college housing for fuori sede students, international mobility contributions, and a full exemption from the university's "contributo onnicomprensivo."
A "fuori sede" student in the 1st income bracket (ISEE up to €13,443.97) can receive €7,419 in cash plus a free daily meal — a total benefit worth €8,248 per year.

Semestre Filtro Students (Medicine / Odontoiatria)
Students who choose Pavia as their first-choice institution for the preparatory "semestre filtro" of Medicine and Surgery or Odontoiatria e Protesi Dentaria can apply within the ordinary deadlines. They appear in the final ranking with a SOSPESO (suspended) status, confirmed only after the MUR national ranking is issued and EDiSU verifies their second-semester enrollment at Pavia.

The EDiSU Pavia scholarship amount depends on your geographic status (in sede, pendolare, or fuori sede) and your ISEE income bracket. All figures below already include a free daily meal, quantified separately in the "total" column.

Students who win a place in a Pavia EDiSU collegio receive a reduced cash amount, but the total value stays identical because free accommodation replaces part of the cash component:

Your geographic classification determines your EDiSU Pavia scholarship bracket. The gap between "in sede" and "fuori sede" is roughly €4,800 per year in the 1st income bracket — getting this right matters enormously.

info Provisional Ranking Starts You as "Pendolare"
In the provisional ranking, all students from "fuori sede" municipalities or abroad are temporarily classified as "pendolare" — except those already housed in an EDiSU collegio for the full year. You must submit proof of a paid lease (registered with the Agenzia delle Entrate) or college certification by 8 November 2026. Miss this and you're locked in as "pendolare" for the final ranking.
Students meeting EDiSU's "studente indipendente" criteria (residence away from family for ≥2 years, own income ≥€9,000/year for ≥2 years) are also treated as fuori sede, provided they hold paid accommodation near Pavia.
ISEE Requirements for EDiSU Pavia 2026/2027
To qualify, your family's ISEE UNI 2026 must be no higher than €26,887.93, and your ISPE UNI 2026 (patrimony indicator) must be no higher than €58,452.06. Both limits must be respected together — exceeding either one disqualifies you on income grounds.

tips_and_updates Request Your ISEE via INPS/CAF by 15 September
Students with income and assets in Italy must request the ISEE for university aid from INPS (directly or via a CAF) by 15 September 2026. EDiSU automatically retrieves your attestation from the INPS database using your Codice Fiscale — you do not upload it yourself. Allow 7–10 working days for INPS to issue it after you submit your DSU, and don't wait until the last moment.
Students With Income Abroad
Non-EU students (or Italians resident abroad) whose family's income and assets are outside Italy must submit original, officially certified documentation — family composition, 2025 gross income, real estate owned at 31 December 2025, and movable assets at 31 December 2025 — legalised (or apostilled) by Italian diplomatic authorities and translated into Italian. Self-declarations and affidavits are never accepted. This documentation must reach EDiSU in original form by 15 September 2026, either at the office (via Calatafimi 11) or by post to via Sant'Ennodio, 26, Pavia. Students from particularly low-income countries, refugees, and those affected by active conflict (including the Ukraine and Iran emergencies) benefit from simplified certification routes.
Academic Credit Requirements
First-Year Students
If you're enrolling in year 1, your initial ranking is based on your school-leaving grade (minimum 70/100) and income. Credits are checked afterward, in two stages, to confirm and unlock payment:

Note: Exact minimum CFU thresholds per year and course type are set out in Allegato A (upper years) and Allegato B (first years) of the official bando. A "bonus credits" system (5 / 12 / 15 credits, growing the longer it's unused) can bridge small gaps for students in years 2+, and must be requested when filling in the online application.
Upper-Year Students
Students enrolled in year 2 or beyond must have earned the required number of CFU (per Allegato A) by 10 August 2026 — before applying, not after. This is a single, pre-application check; there is no separate "second verification" stage for upper-year students. PhD students confirm eligibility simply by being regularly enrolled in year 2 or 3.
EDiSU Pavia College Housing & Canteen Services
EDiSU Pavia manages a network of colleges (collegi) offering free accommodation to "fuori sede" students who win a place, based on combined merit and income ranking. Housing value is built directly into the scholarship figures rather than added on top.

flight International Mobility & Housing
Students going abroad on a mobility programme of ≥10 months recognised by the University of Pavia are still treated as "fuori sede" if they reside in a fuori sede municipality or come from abroad, provided they submit certification (e.g. Learning Agreement) by 8 November 2026. Shorter mobility periods require combining that certification with proof of a lease in Pavia to reach the full 10-month accommodation requirement.
EDiSU Pavia Scholarship 2026/2027: Payment Schedule
Once you appear in the final ranking as a beneficiary, your scholarship is paid in rates linked to enrollment checks and, for first-year students, credit milestones. Payment requires entering your IBAN and confirming your "Impegno di Riscossione" declaration in the online reserved area.
First-Year Students (All Courses)

International students can apply for the EDiSU Pavia scholarship on the same terms as Italian students — but the income documentation process differs significantly depending on where your family's income and assets are located. Getting this right early is essential.
If Your Family Lives Outside Italy
Minimum Declared Foreign Income
Regardless of what your family actually earns, foreign income declared by international students can never be below €10,179.85 — the minimum subsistence threshold required for an Italian study visa. This acts as a floor for the income assessment, not a target.
tips_and_updates Start the Document Process Early
Certified, legalised, translated income documents can take weeks to arrange — start in June or July. The 15 September 2026 deadline is absolute, and missing it means exclusion from the ranking for lack of economic parameters, with no possibility of late submission.
warning Students With Assets in Both Italy and Abroad
If you hold any assets in Italy — even just a bank account — on top of foreign income, you must submit both the original foreign documentation and a regular ISEE UNI 2026 attestation. Declaring only one of the two results in an incomplete file.

Do I need to be enrolled before applying? expand_more
No. You can submit your online application before enrolling at the University of Pavia. However, enrollment must be completed by 16 November 2026 (or the specific deadline for your case — students enrolling "sotto condizione" in a laurea magistrale, or via the semestre filtro, follow slightly different rules). Missing enrollment deadlines results in exclusion or revocation.
What if I transferred from another Italian university? expand_more
If you transferred to Pavia after the start of the academic year, you must ask the Ente per il Diritto allo Studio of the university you came from to forward your application (if it was submitted within that Ente's own deadlines). Regularisation of the transfer at Pavia must be completed by 16 November 2026. Credits validated through a transfer only count toward merit if they come from years already attended that respected the "regolarità accademica" requirement.
Is the EDiSU Pavia scholarship compatible with other benefits? expand_more
The scholarship is not cumulable with analogous aid from EDiSU or other public/private bodies, university-administered scholarships (art. 12 DPCM 9 April 2001), foreign-student scholarships from the Ministero degli Affari Esteri, or free/subsidised places in colleges not managed by EDiSU — you must choose one. It is compatible with study-abroad scholarships from national or foreign institutions, interregional mobility grants (D.M. 4 September 2013 n. 755), and MIUR-funded tutoring activities (D.M. 23 October 2003 n. 198).
What if I don't meet the credit requirement? expand_more
First-year beneficiaries who reach the minimum CFU (Allegato B) between 11 August and 30 November 2027 keep their idoneità but only receive 50% of the scholarship's value (full services, but no second monetary rata). Missing the CFU entirely by 30 November 2027 means the scholarship is revoked and everything already received — cash and the value of services used — must be repaid, potentially in installments by agreement.

What is the "bonus" credit system? expand_more
A pool of extra credits available to students in years 2+ of laurea and laurea magistrale a ciclo unico courses, used only to cover a gap between the minimum required CFU and what you've actually earned. Its size depends on the year you first use it: 5 credits if opened in year 2, 12 in year 3, 15 from year 4 onward — and it only grows the longer it's left unused, up to a maximum of 15. Unused bonus carries into future years but must be explicitly requested when compiling the online application; it does not apply automatically, and does not count toward the first-year merit check.
