The IMAT 2026 anonymous results are published on Universitaly on 8 October 2026, nine days after the exam on 29 September. This is the first of four result stages, and the one that causes the most confusion. Here is what the anonymous list is, how to find your score in it, what it can and cannot tell you, and what happens next.

What Are the IMAT 2026 Anonymous Results?
The IMAT 2026 anonymous results are a list of every candidate's score, matched to a label code instead of a name.
During the exam, each candidate received a unique barcode label and attached it to their exam papers. After marking, each score is recorded against that code. The published files show the codes and the scores, and nothing that identifies the person behind them. That is why they are called anonymous.
How to find your score
If you noted the last digits of your label code during the exam, search for it in the file for your test centre. In previous years the scores were released as one file for the test centres outside Italy (Sedi Estere) and a separate file for each Italian test venue.
If you did not note your code, there is no way to retrieve it now. You will see your score on 19 October, when it appears in your Universitaly personal area.
What the IMAT 2026 Anonymous Results Show (and Don't Show)
A score on its own does not tell you whether you have a seat. Here is what the files can and cannot tell you.
What you can find
- Your own score, if you know your label code.
- The total number of candidates who actually sat the IMAT.
- The distribution of scores across all test-takers.
What you cannot find
- Which candidates are EU and which are non-EU.
- The number of candidates in each category.
- The official threshold for each university.
- Your position in the ranking or your seat.
New in 2026: Veterinary Medicine Has Its Own Ranking
From this year, candidates chose at registration between Medicine and Dentistry, which share one ranking, and Veterinary Medicine, which is ranked separately. Everyone sat the same exam.
Keep this in mind when you read the overall score distribution. Not every candidate in the list is competing for the same seats as you.
What Happens After the IMAT 2026 Anonymous Results
Three more stages follow, and your seat is decided in the last two.
- 19 October 2026: your personal results. Your full exam paper, your score and your personal data sheet (scheda anagrafica) appear in your Universitaly personal area. This is where your score is officially tied to your name.
- 26 October 2026: the first national ranking. The ranking lists are published and each ranked candidate receives a status.
- ASSEGNATO: you have a seat at your first-choice university. You must enrol by the deadline shown on Universitaly, or you lose the place.
- PRENOTATO: you hold a seat at a lower choice on your list. You can enrol there, or wait to see whether a higher choice opens in the next rounds.
- 3 November 2026: the second ranking. Seats left free by candidates who did not enrol or who withdrew are reassigned, and statuses are updated.
Do not miss a round
Check your Universitaly status after every round. Deadlines are short and a missed one costs you the seat.
Looking Back: IMAT 2025 and 2024 in Numbers
IMAT 2025 had the largest cohort of the last four years: 13,495 candidates sat the exam, 23% more than in 2024.

2025 was the tougher year for most candidates. The number scoring 70 or higher dropped from 599 to 427, even with 2,564 more candidates. The very top held up: 55 candidates reached 80 or higher, against 40 in 2024.
Where the points came from
The average points scored in each section:

The two years were won in different places. In 2024, Biology carried the scores and Chemistry held them back. In 2025 it flipped: Biology became the hardest of the big sections, while Logical reasoning and Chemistry were far more generous. Physics and mathematics stayed difficult in both years.
