The Italian Ministry of Universities and Research (MUR) has officially announced the key dates for the publication of IMAT 2025 results. Here’s the full breakdown of what to expect and how the process works.
Key Dates
- Thursday, 25th September 2025 – Anonymous results will be released.
- 6th October 2025 – Personal results will appear on the Universitaly system.
- 13th October 2025 – Final rankings for non-EU candidates and the first round of EU rankings will be published.
What Are the Anonymous Results?
During the IMAT exam, each student was given a unique barcode, which was placed on the desk and had to be attached to their exam papers. After correction, the papers are matched to the barcodes, and the scores are recorded accordingly. The anonymous results are simply the list of scores tied to these barcodes. Students who memorized the last digits of their barcode can find their own score in these files. Importantly, at this stage, no names are attached—hence “anonymous.”
Once the exam is over, there is no way to retrieve your barcode number. Students were expected to memorize the last digits during the test in order to identify their results later.
How Many Files Will Be Published?
Two main sets of files will be released:
- Sedi Estere – covering all international exam centers outside Italy.
- Italian Centers – each Italian university will publish a separate file.
What the Files Show (and Don’t Show)
Here’s what you can and cannot learn from the anonymous results:
What you can find:
- Your personal score (if you memorized your barcode).
- The total number of candidates who actually sat the IMAT.
- The distribution of scores across all test-takers.
What you cannot find:
- The separation between EU and non-EU candidates.
- The official thresholds for each university.
- The exact number of candidates per category (EU vs non-EU).
Why the Anonymous Results Matter
The anonymous lists provide the first real insight into the performance of the IMAT 2025 cohort. They show how many students took the exam, how the scores are distributed, and where the top marks fall. However, they do not yet determine placements or university cut-offs—that comes later with the official rankings.
Looking Back: IMAT 2024 Anonymous Results
For reference, the IMAT 2024 anonymous results were published on 26th September 2024 at 5:00 PM (Italian time). That year:
- 10,931 students sat the exam.
- Around 40 candidates scored above 80 points.
- Roughly 600 candidates scored above 70 points.
This kind of data helps give perspective on competitiveness and score distribution year by year.
Stay tuned for the official IMAT 2025 anonymous results on 25th September. We’ll break down the numbers, trends, and what they mean for your chances once the files are live.
