Disclaimer
This article is a simplified summary for informational purposes. The official "Bando di Concorso per l'a.a. 2026/2027," published by EDISU Piemonte (Ente Regionale per il Diritto allo Studio Universitario del Piemonte), is the only binding source. Merit thresholds vary by exact degree course and are published in the bando's annexes. Always verify dates and requirements at edisu.piemonte.it before making decisions.
The EDISU Piemonte scholarship 2026/27 is the main financial aid programme for students at universities, academies and conservatories across Piedmont, run by EDISU Piemonte — the regional agency for the right to university study. Published in July 2026, the bando awards scholarships (borse di studio), housing places (servizio abitativo), a graduation prize (premio di laurea), and a dedicated contribution for students with disabilities enrolled in targeted job placement programmes. This Locomotive guide breaks down the EDISU Piemonte scholarship 2026/27 in plain English.
Benefits do not renew automatically — even students who held the scholarship last year must submit a fresh online application through the Sportello Online portal for 2026/2027, and reconfirm any housing request in the same form.
The EDISU Piemonte scholarship 2026/27 can give a fuori sede student up to €8,097 in cash per year — plus free canteen meals and, if housed by EDISU, a free place in one of 3,100 university residences.

EDISU Piemonte Scholarship 2026/27: Academic Credit Requirements
Freshmen (1st Year Students)
If you're enrolled for the first time, your initial ranking is based purely on income — 50% of the cash amount is paid upfront, with merit checked afterward:
✓
20 credits by 10 Aug 2027
→ Remaining 50% paid from late Nov 2027
½
20 credits by 31 May 2027
→ Remaining 50% paid faster, from late June 2027
✕
Not reached by 30 Nov 2027
→ Repay the 50% advance
Part-time first-year students need only 11 credits instead of 20. Students with disabilities are exempt from this first-year merit rule entirely.
Upper-Year Students — Course-Specific Credit Tables
Unlike some regions, EDISU Piemonte publishes a separate minimum credit threshold for every individual degree course at every university (hundreds of entries across Annexes A1, A2, B, C and C1), rather than one flat table per degree level. As a general guide, most bachelor's degrees require roughly:
| Year | Typical Bachelor's | Typical Single-Cycle Master's |
|---|---|---|
| 2nd | ~25 | ~25 |
| 3rd | ~80 | ~80 |
| 4th+ | N/A (extra semester) | ~135, ~190, ~245… |
These are indicative only — Medicine, Engineering, and many other specific courses have their own tables with different thresholds. Always check your exact course in the bando's annexes. Students confirming benefits by merit (higher achievers repeating for a second year) face a slightly higher bar than students filing a "Domanda Standard," but cannot use bonus credits.
Automatic Bonus Credits
If you fall short of the threshold on a Domanda Standard, EDISU automatically applies a credit "bonus," usable once across your entire university career:
| Bonus Credits | First Usable For |
|---|---|
| 5 credits | Second conventional year (full-time) |
| 12 credits | Third conventional year (full-time) |
| 15 credits | Fourth conventional year onward (full-time) |
Bonus credits apply automatically for a Domanda Standard — you don't need to request them, and they cannot be used to reach the higher "Conferma Benefici per Merito" thresholds or the first-year merit deadlines. Part-time students have a separate, lower bonus scale (3/6/9 credits).
EDISU Piemonte Scholarship 2026/27: Housing & Meals
Fuori sede students can apply for one of 3,100 housing places across Piedmont: 2,706 in Turin and its surrounding area (Beinasco, Grugliasco, Orbassano, Nichelino/Stupinigi, Moncalieri), 93 in Alessandria, 23 in Cuneo, 167 in Novara, 93 in Vercelli, 11 in Biella, and 7 in Asti.
If you're placed in an EDISU residence, you receive the housing place free of charge, but your cash scholarship is reduced to the "with housing" amount shown in the table above (e.g. €5,397 instead of €8,097 for a fuori sede student in the lowest ISEE bracket) — the value of the free housing (€2,700/year) makes up the difference. A refundable deposit of €262.50 applies when moving in.
Free Meals
All scholarship winners can eat at EDISU canteens or affiliated restaurants at the subsidized "fascia 1" rate of just €3.00 per full meal — this applies to every winner regardless of residency status, on top of the cash scholarship.
EDISU Piemonte Scholarship 2026/27: Graduation Prize (Premio di Laurea)
A feature unique to EDISU Piemonte: students who won the scholarship in 2025/26 and graduated on time — within the extraordinary session of that academic year — can apply for a graduation prize, subject to availability of funds after all standard scholarships have been assigned.
- Amount: half of your net 2025/26 scholarship, minus the value of any housing service used (€2,700) and any second-course integration
- Application window: 4 May – 3 June 2027
- Incompatible with the "additional semester" scholarship — you cannot claim both
- No new ISEE or consular documentation is required to apply
