Identity Document & Italian Fiscal Code (Codice Fiscale)
What it actually is: Your passport and the 16-character alphanumeric tax ID code you get from the Italian Embassy.
Where to get it: The Fiscal Code comes from the Italian Embassy or Consulate in your home country, or the Agenzia delle Entrate if you’re already inside Italy.

Family Composition Certificate (Stato di Famiglia)
What it actually is: An official certificate listing every single person who permanently lives under your (or your parents’) roof, including date of birth and relationship to each member.
Where to get it: The Civil Registry Office, City Hall, Local District Census Office, or Ministry of Interior.
The Easy Meaning: the official headcount of people who steal your phone chargers. Italy wants to make sure you aren’t hiding a wealthy secret uncle who could secretly fund your dentistry tuition.
Gross Annual Income Records (Two Years Prior)
What it actually is: Tax returns, employment contracts, or official employer salary certificates showing the gross income of every working household member over 18. If unemployed, an unemployment certificate or zero-income declaration is required.
Where to get it: If employed, the company’s HR or Payroll Department issues the salary certificate. If unemployed, request it from the Department of Labor, National Employment Exchange, or Social Security/Welfare Office.
The Easy Meaning: the “look how little money we made while the world was recovering from a pandemic” proof.
Real Estate / Property Certificates (as of December 31)
What it actually is: Official ownership deeds showing the built area in square meters of any house, apartment, land, or commercial space your family owns. If the family rents, a formal rental lease agreement is needed instead. If the family owns nothing, a signed government certificate declaring zero real estate.
If you rent: A copy of the contract signed with your landlord, which must be formally registered with your local housing/tax authority.
The Easy Meaning: the “no, we do not live in a hidden luxury mansion, we swear” certificate. Italy measures your wealth in square meters.
Bank and Asset Statements (Movable Assets)
What it actually is: Formal bank certificates showing exact account balances, stocks, or investment valuations held by every family member at midnight on December 31 of the year of reference.
Where to get it: Log into your online banking portal, or walk into your local branch and request an official “End of Year Balance and Average Balance Certificate” for the year of reference.

University Enrollment Form
What it actually is: The digital PDF download showing you successfully registered for the IMAT exam, or a pre-enrollment summary sheet from the Universitaly portal.
The Easy Meaning: proof that you are a legitimately suffering pre-med student and not a random vacationer trying to scam a free student housing room.
