This article is a simplified summary for informational purposes. The official "Bando Diritto allo Studio 2026/2027," published on www.laziodisco.it, is the only legally binding source. Always verify dates and requirements there before making decisions.

The DiSCo Lazio scholarship 2026 — officially called the "Bando Diritto allo Studio 2026/2027" — is one of the most valuable forms of financial support available to international students enrolled at universities in Lazio (including Rome's Sapienza, Tor Vergata, Roma Tre, and every other Lazio-based institution). The DiSCo Lazio scholarship 2026 can cover a substantial part of your annual living costs and even provide free accommodation and daily meals. This Locomotive guide breaks it all down in plain English.

DiSCo (Ente Regionale per il Diritto allo Studio e la Conoscenza) is the Lazio regional body responsible for university student welfare. Every year it publishes a "bando" (official call) offering financial and material support to students who meet income and academic requirements. For 2026/2027, Locomotive has compiled everything you need to know about the DiSCo Lazio scholarship 2026 in one place.

The DiSCo Lazio scholarship 2026 can give a "fuori sede" student with a low ISEE up to €7,557 in cash per year — plus free housing and two free meals a day.

What Is the DiSCo Lazio Scholarship 2026?

The DiSCo Lazio scholarship 2026 is co-financed by the Italian state (Fondo Integrativo Statale), Regione Lazio, the European Social Fund, and NextGenerationEU/PNRR funds. For 2026/2027, the benefits include:

  • A graduation prize equal to 50% of your scholarship if you graduate on time

DiSCo Lazio Scholarship 2026: In Sede, Pendolare or Fuori Sede?

Your housing classification determines your DiSCo Lazio scholarship 2026 bracket — the difference between "in sede" and "fuori sede" is nearly €4,300 per year. Getting this right matters enormously.

🏠

In Sede

You live in the same city as your course. Also applies to telematic/online students.

€2,290 base

🚆

Pendolare

You live less than 50km away (or in a listed comune for Roma/Cassino).

€3,591 base

🏙️

Fuori Sede ⭐

You live more than 50km away AND have a registered lease of at least 10 months.

€6,571 base

warning Don't Lose Your Fuori Sede Status

To be classified as "fuori sede" you must complete ALL of the following steps:

  1. Sign your lease by 29 November 2026
  2. Register the lease with the Agenzia delle Entrate
  3. Upload the contract details in your Area Riservata by 27 December 2026
  4. Ensure the rent receipt shows your tax code (or a family member's per your DSU)

Fail any of these steps and you're automatically downgraded to "pendolare calcolato" — even if you genuinely live far away and pay rent. This cannot be corrected after the deadline.

info International Students with Family Abroad

If at least 50% of your family unit lives outside Italy, DiSCo automatically classifies you as "fuori sede" — without requiring a lease contract. This does not apply if you're enrolled in a telematic or predominantly remote-learning programme.

DiSCo Lazio Scholarship 2026 — Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply if I'm just starting Medicine via the "semestre aperto"? expand_more

Yes. Submit your application within the ordinary deadlines (by 22 July 2026) even while awaiting your semestre aperto results. Your application is placed in a separate dedicated ranking and doesn't grant any benefits until you pass and finalize your enrollment in the Medicine programme.

What if I don't have a lease contract yet when I apply? expand_more

You can declare your intention to sign a lease in the "Domicilio" section of the application form. This declaration is non-binding. However, to retain "fuori sede" status, you must sign a qualifying lease by 29 November 2026 and upload its registration details by 27 December 2026. Missing these steps means automatic reclassification as "pendolare calcolato."

Is the ISEEUP the same as a self-declared income statement? expand_more

No. The ISEEUP must be prepared at a DiSCo-affiliated CAF using official documents issued by Italian consular authorities in your home country — translated into Italian. Affidavits, self-declarations, and sworn statements are not accepted under any circumstances.

What if I can't earn 20 credits as a freshman? expand_more

If you earn 20 credits between 10 August and 30 November 2027, you receive 50% of the scholarship. If you don't reach 20 credits at all by 30 November 2027, all benefits are revoked and you must repay everything received. A 3-month extension ("proroga") is possible for documented exceptional circumstances — serious illness, hospitalisation ≥10 days, bereavement, childbirth, or natural disasters.

Is the DiSCo scholarship compatible with Erasmus? expand_more

Yes. The DiSCo scholarship is compatible with Erasmus grants and EU-funded mobility contributions. In fact, DiSCo also offers an additional international mobility contribution (up to €510/month) on top of your regular scholarship for students selected for exchange programmes. If you win university housing, you can keep your room as long as you're abroad for no more than 120 days.

How do I communicate with DiSCo — can I email them? expand_more

No. All formal communication with DiSCo must go through the "istanze" (formal requests) and "ticket" system inside your Area Riservata on laziodisco.it. Emails and PEC messages are not accepted (except in genuine cases where the ticket system is objectively unavailable). All notifications published in your Area Riservata are considered legally valid notice — check it regularly.

What is the graduation prize? expand_more

If you were a scholarship winner in the 2025/2026 academic year and you graduate on time (within the legal course duration) during 2025/2026, you're entitled to a graduation prize equal to 50% of the scholarship you received that year. Apply within 30 days of graduating. Not available to students who used a career abbreviation.
