The Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) has officially released the details regarding the IMAT 2025 exam and registration process on 8 August 2025. Below, we summarize the most important information for all candidates planning to sit the IMAT 2025.
According to the announcement by MUR, registration for IMAT 2025 will open on 26 August 2025 and will close on 9 September 2025 at 15:00 (GMT +2). The exact time the registration opens on 26 August has not been specified, so candidates are advised to regularly check the Universitaly portal throughout the day. IMAT registration will take place through the Universitaly portal. We recommend that students create an account in advance if they don’t already have one.
Registration Fee
The official registration fee has not yet been published. However, based on previous years, candidates can expect it to be approximately €130 (Euro), £114 (British Pound), or $164 (US Dollar). Keep in mind that these are estimates. The official fee will be visible during the registration process
Editing Registration Details
Candidates are strongly advised to review their personal details, selected exam center, and—depending on their status:
- Non-EU students are allowed to select only one university when registering for the IMAT.
- EU students can select all universities and rank them according to their preferences.
If a student needs to change any of these selections (e.g. exam center or university preferences), they must cancel their current registration, wait for cancellation confirmation, and then re-register before the deadline.
The refund of the exam fee is possible only if cancellation occurs before the registration deadline. Refund processing may take several weeks.
During registration, students can select their English certificate from a predefined list published by the Ministry. Make sure your certificate matches one of the accepted ones.
Exam Center
The IMAT 2025 exam is scheduled for 17 September 2025 at 12:00 (Italian local time). Unless the Ministry announces any changes, the exam centers will remain the same as those used in IMAT 2024.
Students who wish to select an exam center in Italy should keep in mind that they can choose only one location as their first and only choice within the country. After completing the IMAT registration, exam centers will send candidates an email with the exam center details, the exact time they need to arrive before the exam, and the specific rules and guidelines of the center.
